The Company’s name is the United Crane Operators Association (UCOA). The Company office is to be situated in England and Wales

The Company objectives are to help with the training of new operators within the industry.

To promote safe working practices within the industry, together with other trades

Full membership is restricted to operators with a CPCS (or equivalent) card with at least two years experience.

New operators during their first and second years as operators may register as associates.

In furtherance of the objectives, but not otherwise, the Company may exercise the following powers;

• To draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, execute and issue promissory notes, bills, cheques and other instruments and to operate bank accounts in the name of the Company.

• To raise funds and to invite and receive contributions, provided that in funds, the Company shall not undertake any substantial permanent trading activities and shall conform to any relevant statutory regulations.       

The income and the property of the Company shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objectives and no part shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of a dividend, bonus or otherwise by way of profit to members of the Company and no trustees shall be appointed, to any office of the Company paid by salary or fees or receive any remuneration or other benefit in money or money’s worth from the Company, provided that nothing in this document shall prevent any payment in good faith by the Company.

The intentions are to construct a catalogue of experienced operators for the whole industry on a scale of knowledge and experience to help with everyday problems that arise on site.

• To involve the HSE and other relevant organisations with certain issues that may arise on site, and to try to make a more harmonious workplace.

With your support we can achieve this through the United Crane Operators Association where Safety Comes First

The membership fee is £25 00 per year, this is necessary to enable us attend regular safety meetings, admin costs etc.  We will inform members of our progress at meetings either by sending newsletters at regular intervals or via our forum on www.lifting-world.co.uk

Please note that the association will not take the place of your Union or any other Union or Union rights, but we are here to represent united crane operators from all sectors of the crane industry.  

We do not and will not condone any form of militancy within our membership. Our aim is to be a responsible organisation and will always seek to solve any disputes amicably, should they arise with our members.

We are not here as an organisation to go against, hinder (or any other form of impedance), employers or companies, but merely to unite and represent operators to enable a solid voice for negotiating unsafe practices with other organisations within the construction / crane / lifting industry. To add to this, we could be a valuable service to employers also for liaising with organisations such as CPCS, CSCS, CITB, HSE, ACOP, MCG, CIF etc, about any issues that you may have about safety from a Managers point of view!
